In My Mailbox #17

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren.

Hey guys! Wow, I never realised it's been quite a long time since my last IMM post. I've been busy with school and have less time to blog lately. I also wanted to say sorry about not being able to return all your lovely comments. I haven't been around the blogosphere often from the start of this year and this will probably continue until the end of the year because of this is my last year in high school. However, I might still post reviews occassionally so please don't stop visiting the blog!

Anyway...onto the books!

For review:

New Moon: The Graphic Novel Volume 1 by Stephenie Meyer and Young Kim

Infinite Sky by C.J. Flood

Dare You To by Katie McGarry [ARC]

Burn for Burn by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian

Wildlife by Fiona Wood

I'm incredibly excited to read all the books I received this week, particularly Dare You To! I've heard nothing but great things about this book and since I loved Pushing the Limits, I'm sure I'll enjoy this one too. Infinite Sky came in the hardcover edition and it's absolutely gorgeous. Wildlife is an Aussie YA, companion to Six Impossible Things which I haven't read but need to read soon! I flicked through New Moon's Graphic Novel and the illustrations look great. I also loved Jenny Han's The Summer series so I am really excited to read her newest novel and collaboration with Siobhan Vivian!

(Thank you Simon & Schuster Australia, Harlequin Teen Australia, Pan Macmillan Australia and Hachette Australia!)

What did you guys get this week?

Have a wonderful day everyone! ♥

Rapture by Lauren Kate (Thank you Random House Australia!)
I've actually received this book 2 weeks ago, read it and LOVED IT but somehow, I got another copy from Dot, the publicist! I think I'm swapping this book with Lisa @ Badass Bookie!

So this is the 5th book in the Kissed by an Angel series. I really enjoyed the first 3 books. Evercrossed, the 4th book was okay. Hope Everlasting is much better than Evercrossed! This is another surprise! The summary sounds quite interesting but I haven't heard of the book before. Can't wait to read it!

After reading so many amazing reviews on this book, I knew I had to read it! I am so happy that Penguin Australia is publishing this! Definitely can't wait to read it!

In Mailbox #9

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren. It's Sunday again so let's see what I got this week!

A Beautiful Dark
Author: Jocelyn Davies
Source: Bought

Summary from Goodreads:

On the night of Skye's seventeenth birthday, she meets two enigmatic strangers. Complete opposites;like fire and ice;Asher is dark and wild, while Devin is fair and aloof. Their sudden appearance sends Skye's life into a tailspin. She has no idea what they want, or why they seem to follow her every move only that their presence coincides with a flurry of strange events. Soon she begins to doubt not just the identity of the two boys, but also the truth about her own past.
In the dead of a bitingly cold Colorado winter, Skye finds herself coming to terms with the impossible secret that threatens to shatter her world. Torn between Asher, who she can't help falling for, and Devin, who she can't stay away from, the consequences of Skye's choice will reach further than the three of them could ever imagine.

My opinion:
The title is really interesting and the cover is quite gorgeous, except the haands of the girl in the model feels weird to me. Like it's in the wrong position but anyway, what intrigued me to read this book first was its summary so I can't wait to read this!
The Faerie Ring
Author: Kiki Hamilton
Source: Bought

Summary from Goodreads:
Debut novelist Kiki Hamilton takes readers from the gritty slums and glittering ballrooms of Victorian London to the beguiling but menacing Otherworld of the Fey in this spellbinding tale of romance, suspense, and danger.
The year is 1871, and Tiki has been making a home for herself and her family of orphans in a deserted hideaway adjoining Charing Cross Station in central London. Their only means of survival is by picking pockets. One December night, Tiki steals a ring, and sets off a chain of events that could lead to all-out war with the Fey. For the ring belongs to Queen Victoria, and it binds the rulers of England and the realm of Faerie to peace. With the ring missing, a rebel group of faeries hopes to break the treaty with dark magic and blood—Tiki’s blood.
Unbeknownst to Tiki, she is being watched—and protected—by Rieker, a fellow thief who suspects she is involved in the disappearance of the ring. Rieker has secrets of his own, and Tiki is not all that she appears to be. Her very existence haunts Prince Leopold, the Queen’s son, who is driven to know more about the mysterious mark that encircles her wrist.
Prince, pauper, and thief—all must work together to secure the treaty…

My opinion:
The cover is pretty and it reflects the story of the book! I love faeries so I hope I can enjoy this one!

That's all I got this week! How about you guys? What did you get in your IMM this week?

In My Mailbox #8

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren. It's Sunday agai so let's see what I got this week!
Winter's Shadow
Author: M.J Hearle
Source: Won from the Author

Summary from Goodreads:
Blake Duchamp...

He's all that Winter Adams can think of. Ever since their fateful meeting at Pilgrim's Lament. Ever since he looked at her with those emerald eyes. Ever since he saved her life.

But Blake isn't all that he seems. There is a strangeness about him, something dark and otherworldly. Something dangerous. In his attic is a secret he would kill to defend, but Winter seems to have a special ability to make him forget his duty. And he is her only protection against the gathering darkness.

The only problem is, to protect Winter, Blake must risk exposing her to an even greater danger. Himself.

My opinion:
First of all, the author is a male and he writes in a girl's POV which is awesome. I find it rare to see a male author writing in a girl's POV and likewise for female authors writing in a boy's POV. I'm currently reading this one now and it's really good, another great Aussie read. Thank you to M.J Hearle for giving me the opportunity to read his book!
Crossed
Author: Ally Condie
Source: Bought

Summary from Goodreads:
The hotly awaited second book in the dystopian Matched trilogy

In search of a future that may not exist and faced with the decision of who to share it with, Cassia journeys to the Outer Provinces in pursuit of Ky - taken by the Society to his certain death - only to find that he has escaped, leaving a series of clues in his wake.

Cassia's quest leads her to question much of what she holds dear, even as she finds glimmers of a different life across the border. But as Cassia nears resolve and certainty about her future with Ky, an invitation for rebellion, an unexpected betrayal, and a surprise visit from Xander - who may hold the key to the uprising and, still, to Cassia's heart - change the game once again. Nothing is as expected on the edge of Society, where crosses and double crosses make the path more twisted than ever.

My opinion:
I enjoyed Matched and I can't wait to read this. I also noticed that there are some sections of the book where it's written from Ky's POV. Well this is one thing I'm anticipating a lot since I want to know what's inside Ky's head! The cover is also gorgeous. I love the blue!

Well, that's all from me! What do you have in your IMM this week? Just leave a comment and I'll check it out! Thank you.

In My Mailbox #7

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren. I've got wonderful books this week and I'd like to share it with you all!

Source: Bought
Summary from Goodreads:
Only Willow has the power to defeat the malevolent Church of Angels, and they will stop at nothing to destroy her. Willow isn’t alone, though. She has Alex by her side – a trained Angel Killer and her one true love. But nothing can change the fact that Willow’s a half-angel, and when Alex joins forces with a group of AKs, she’s treated with mistrust and suspicion. She’s never felt more alone…until she meets Seb. He’s been searching for Willow his whole life – because Seb is a half-angel too.

My opinion:
Angel Fire is book 2 of the Angel series. I really enjoyed reading the first one and when I found this, I was really shocked. it was 709 pages and really heavy! I can't wait to read this and see how the story is developed within the 700 pages!

Source: Bought
Summary from Goodreads:
In the third installment of the Tiger series, Kelsey Hayes pushes through the pain of lost love and strengthens her friendship with Kishan. Despite his strong feelings for her, Kishan has agreed to be her ally in helping her reunite with the man she still loves. Together, they seek to help Ren regain his memory and begin the search for the third magical gift—an object of power that will help break the curse that causes them to live part of their lives as tigers.

They board a luxury yacht and seek Durga's aid once again, who supplies them with her golden weapons. With Nilima, Mr. Kadam, Ren, and Kishan at her side, she soon learns that the task ahead will be even more difficult than the others. Confronting a dark magician, multiple dragons, and terrifying denizens of the deep seems easy when compared to facing the daunting task of stitching up her heart. Just when she thinks she's ready to set her feet on a new path, she is yanked back with a jolt to the one she's determined to leave behind.

The jarring tug-of-war that ensues for Kelsey's heart leaves her anxious and confused. Combined with the stress of almost being killed every other day, it would appear that saving the tigers is almost more than she can handle. Still, she presses on, knowing that a choice is looming on the horizon. One she cannot put off making for long.

Tiger's Voyage is an irresistible romance with a barrage of action on the high seas, where a reader will find a treasure chest full of dragons, sea monsters, knights in shining armor, fabled weapons, and enduring love. The tropic waters of India create the backdrop for the latest installment in the tiger series. This novel, a multicultural take on the classic Beauty and the Beast tale, delves into the complex emotional turmoil and pressure associated with not only making the best choice for a nation but also the best choice for yourself.

My opinion:
Well, I have been really dying to read this book ever since how things ended in Tiger's Quest. The cover is just as gorgeous as the previous 2, but it's really interesting to see dragon in the cover rather than tiger so yeah, can't wait to read this!

Source: Won (Thank you Amanda @Stuck in YA books!)
Summary from Goodreads:
The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures.Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden.Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.
My opinion:
I can't wait to read this! The buzz and the good reviews about this book makes me even more dying to read this and I am so lucky to have won this book in Amanda's giveaway! Interesting paranormal theme in this book!

Source: Borrowed from library
Summary from Goodreads:
‘If she’d waited less than two weeks, she’d be June who died in June. But I guess my sister didn’t consider that.’

Harper Scott’s older sister has always been the perfect one so when June takes her own life a week before her high school graduation, sixteen-year-old Harper is devastated. Everyone’s sorry, but no one can explain why.

When her divorcing parents decide to split her sister’s ashes into his-and-her urns, Harper takes matters into her own hands. She’ll steal the ashes and drive cross-country with her best friend, Laney, to the one place June always dreamed of going California.

Enter Jake Tolan. He’s a boy with a bad attitude, a classic-rock obsession and nothing in common with Harper’s sister. But Jake had a connection with June, and when he insists on joining them, Harper’s just desperate enough to let him. With his alternately charming and infuriating demeanour and his belief that music can see you through anything, he might be exactly what she needs.

Except June wasn’t the only one hiding something. Jake’s keeping a secret that has the power to turn Harper’s life upside down again.

My opinion:
Another Aussie YA read! I am currently reading this and so far, really enjoying it!

Source: Borrowed from library
Summary from Goodreads:
Who is the real McLean?

Since her parents' bitter divorce, McLean and her dad, a restaurant consultant, have been on the move-four towns in two years. Estranged from her mother and her mother's new family, McLean has followed her dad in leaving the unhappy past behind. And each new place gives her a chance to try out a new persona: from cheerleader to drama diva. But now, for the first time, McLean discovers a desire to stay in one place and just be herself, whoever that is. Perhaps Dave, the guy next door, can help her find out.

Combining Sarah Dessen's trademark graceful writing, great characters, and compelling storytelling, What Happened to Goodbye is irresistible reading.

 My opinion:
So this is Dessen's newest book. I just finished reading Along for the Ride which I really enjoyed. So far, I have read in total, 3 Dessen's books: Just Listen, The Truth about Forever and Along for the Ride. I can't wait to see what it's like in this story!

That's all I got this week! A pretty big IMM! Leave a link below for your IMM and I'll check it out! Thank you for checking out what I got this week!
