My review:Summary from Goodreads:Galen is strong, protective and gorgeous, with striking violet eyes and a body to make you shiver - and that's just when he's in human form. He's from the House of Triton, god of the sea, and he's searching for a girl with the gift of Poseidon to save his brother from marrying a fraud. Emma is a human. Or so she thinks. When Emma meets Galen on the beach, they both sense a sizzling chemistry. But can Galen convince her that she holds the key to his kingdom - without letting on that he's falling for her?
Cover:
I remember how I first saw this cover in someone's Waiting on Wednesday post and immediately fell in love with the cover at first sight. I love the water effect surrounding the girl and how her body seems to made out of water. The background also reflects the depth of the sea and how it's dark with tones of light sea colour. I like how simple but gorgeous the cover is!
Story:
Emma is a human. Or so she thinks...
Triton's trident, I am in love with this book and by in love, I mean in love with everything about this book! I am really glad that the story is as gorgeous as the cover. Of Poseidon is told from Emma and Galen's POV. I can't remember the last time I read a book about mermaids but Of Poseidon has become my favourite mermaid books! Oh, I must remind you that this book is not about mermaids but Syrena. Yep, you better stop calling Syrena mermaids or they will be offended!
Wow, I'm absolutely captured by the beauty of sea and Syrenas when reading this book. It made me miss the sea so badly. I really loved Anna Banks' writing style. It's funny, it's fun, it's sweet and it's romantic! So I read this book in the bus and I practically laughed when reading funny bits and I'm guessing people are looking at me and thinking 'why is this girl laughing to herself?' I love how Poseidon is not a Greek god of sea or just a myth but instead a Syrena. I love the new and unique concept of mermaids Banks came up with in Of Poseidon and how different it was to the original mermaids we are used to know of. The ending made me want to scream on top of my lungs. I need Of Triton now. I will grow fins if it means I can get the next book now. Deal?
Characters:
Ohmysweetgoodness, I love Emma and Galen. They are perfect for each other. Emma is a strong-willed, stubborn girl who is also completely funny! I can't imagine living her life. One moment, it's all good but then it completely changed. And Galen is so swoon-worthy. My prince, reading from your POV is the greatest gift a girl can have when reading Of Poseidon. So I want to point out one thing that makes him so swoon-worthy. You see, your highness here takes his beloved Emma to date underwater. And it's not just you know, swimming with the fishes. He takes you to see Titanic. Isn't that the most romantic date ever? Your Highness, please take me with you to see Titanic, or better yet, the kingdom! I love reading Emma and Galen's relationship. It was very fun and sweet. I also really loved Galen's sister, Rayna who is 'mated' with Toraf, Galen's best friend. They are a sweet couple too! Emma's mom is a cool but she is more than just your average mom! Triton's Trident, I love the characters!
Overall:
Ladies and gentleman, may I present you Anna Banks' incredibly sweet and gorgeous debut novel, Of Poseidon. Of Poseidon will lure you deep into a captivating story about mermaids, I MEAN Syrena. With sweet adorable characters, you might end up wishing you can sprout fins after reading this book! Triton's trident, I love Of Poseidon!
