Summary from Goodreads:
It's a year after 9/11. Sniper shootings throughout the D.C. area have everyone on edge and trying to make sense of these random acts of violence. Meanwhile, Craig and Lio are just trying to make sense of their lives. Craig’s crushing on quiet, distant Lio, and preoccupied with what it meant when Lio kissed him...and if he’ll do it again...and if kissing Lio will help him finally get over his ex-boyfriend, Cody.Lio feels most alive when he's with Craig. He forgets about his broken family, his dead brother, and the messed up world. But being with Craig means being vulnerable...and Lio will have to decide whether love is worth the risk.

This intense, romantic novel from the author of Break and Invincible Summer is a poignant look at what it is to feel needed, connected, and alive
My review:

Cover:

I like how simple the cover is. It only shows a pair of shoes in the darkness yet the pair of shoes itself have so many meanings.

Story:

2 boys. Hope. Loss. Love.

First of all, I did not notice that this book was a story of a developing romantic relationship between two boys before I read the book. I was a bit hesitant but when I read it, I was very amazed at how beautiful the writing was. It was lyrical and very enjoyable. The story is written from 2 POVs, Craig and Lio. I loved reading the relationship that blossomed between these two different boys and I really enjoyed reading the story of Gone, Gone, Gone, where life is still dangerous after the 9/11 tragedy. This book is about love, loss, hope. It's sad yet beautiful. Gone, Gone, Gone is absolutely well-written.

Characters:
I think the characters are the best part about Gone, Gone, Gone. Hannah voices her characters really well. I loved how different Craig and Lio was. Craig is still in love with Cody, his ex-boyfriend but starts to fall for Lio. Craig is tall and he might sound scary, but he loves animals. Craig is more like the 'good guy' while Lio is a bit of a 'bad boy'. He smokes, he dies his hair with different colours but he is also a sad character. He used to have cancer. I loved reading from both Craig's and Lio's POV. I also love how Craig's parents are very supportive of him. The characters are truly amazing.

Overall:
Gone, Gone, Gone is a beautifully written book. Deep within this simple but meaningful cover is a story of a blossoming relationship between 2 boys amidst the dangers of Sniper Shootings a year after the 9/11 incident. With Hannah's talent of voicing her characters really well, Gone, Gone, Gone will take your breath away.
4 Forget-Me-Not flowers for Gone, Gone, Gone!
