Cover:Summary from Goodreads:Nara Collins is an average sixteen-year-old, with one exception: every night she dreams the events of the following day. Due to an incident in her past, Nara avoids using her special gift to change fate…until she dreams a future she can’t ignore.
After Nara prevents a bombing at Blue Ridge High, her ability to see the future starts to fade, while people at school are suddenly being injured at an unusually high rate.
Grappling with her diminishing powers and the need to prevent another disaster, Nara meets Ethan Harris, a mysterious loner who seems to understand her better than anyone. Ethan and Nara forge an irresistible connection, but as their relationship heats up, so do her questions about his dark past.
I love the woods background and the girl's red dress is gorgeous. The feathers in the background adds to the serene feeling of the book!
Story:
Dream is more than just a dream...
When I first heard of Brightest Kind of Darkness, I've been interested in reading it after reading positive reviews on the book and the summary! So when the author contacted me if I was interested in reviewing the book, I jumped at the chance to read it! Even though I rarely read e-books, I knew that even if it meant it was going to take quite a long time for me to read the book, I still have read it! And boy was Brightest Kind of Darkness worth it!
First of all, I just had to express my love for the title. Isn't it gorgeous? It sounds lovely and I love how the author juxtaposed darkness and brightness. I think it matches story well! The book is narrated from Nara's POV, the girl who dreams of events of the following day. The concept behind this book was unique! I haven't read a book like this before and Michelle's writing absolutely immersed me into the world of dreams, fate and destiny. I enjoyed every moment I spent reading this and I'm already anxious for the sequel, Lucid!
Characters:
Nara is a great character! I really enjoyed reading about her, how she narrates the story, her thoughts on her ability and how she finally found someone who can understand her; Ethan. The chemistry between Nara and Ethan was AMAZING! Every touch, every sweet scenes made my heart twinge. It was beautiful. I love how Ethan truly understands Nara and is willing to do anything for her. Even though Ethan appeared as a bad boy in the beginning, we soon discover that he's more than just a 'bad' boy and that there is a great potential hidden behind his appearance and words. His romance with Nara was not sappy at all and I truly enjoyed it! Michelle's characters were very well-written!
Overall:
What if you have the ability to dream of events before the day it happens? Brightest Kind of Darkness is a gorgeously written book, exploring the story of Nara and Ethan. What do they both have in common? With a unique concept, hooking story and well-written characters, Brightest Kind of Darkness was truly enjoyable and I can't wait for the sequel, Lucid!
