Cover:
The cover is okay. I'm not really liking image used but I like how the font of 'Forever' is different to the rest of the title's font to emphasize on the word.

Story:

Does forever exist in real life?

Four girls, Cass, Ashley, Donna and Sarah are best friends. When Sarah and her family goes for a holiday in Spain, Sarah tells her friends that she meets a cute guy called Joe and spends her time together with him. When holiday's over, Joe goes back to London while Sarah goes back to Brighton. Sarah really likes Joe, but does Joe feel the same way or is it merely a summer fling?

No Such Thing as Forever is the first book in Girl Heart Boy series.  Written from Sarah's POV, the book ventures around themes of love and teenager's life. I really enjoyed reading this book. It's one of those contemporaries that I can relate to because the characters are teenagers, the story revolves around school life, friends and there's also the romance bit that teenagers are experiencing. Ali Cronin's writing is realistic and great! She portrays teenagers' life very well such as parties, sex and also school!

Characters:
One thing I liked besides the story itself are Cronin's characters. She voices them really well. I really liked Sarah in the beginning. She tries to find a guy who she really likes and when she finally finds him, he is not a good guy. At first, I completely understand how she tries hard to make Joe like her, but I do agree with her friends that she becomes obsessed with him. She texts him all the time, even though he rarely replies and he often cancels his plans with Sarah in the last minute. Sarah should have known that Joe is not interested in a serious relationship when Joe rarely replies her texts or even said that he is not looking for anything more. As the book progresses, I become annoyed with Sarah but I still understand how she feels that way. I really liked her best friends! They are very supportive of Sarah and are always there to help her, including Ollie, Rich and Jack! Meanwhile, Joe is absolutely a jerk. He merely uses Sarah for sex and pretends as if he cares about her! But nevertheless, I liked how all the characters feel so real!

Overall:
No Such Thing as Forever is the first book in the exciting new series from Ali Cronin. Cronin's writing is realistic and her characters are voiced really well! Portraying real lives, romance and relationships of teenagers, I'd definitely recommend this book to fans of older young adult contemporaries!
4 Forget-Me-Not flowers for No Such Thing as Forever!

  1. I agree about the cover. It's not enticing at all. But this sounds like a nice, light read. I need a good dose of chick lit every once in a while ;)

    Wonderful review, Cel :D

  5. Beautiful review, Celine! <3 I'm so glad that you enjoyed this book so much! I really like the sound of this one, so I'll check it out for sure! Sarah seems like a very relatable heroine - there was time when we all believed in forever, right? I don't really like the cover either, but since this is realistic contemporary YA: I'M SOLD!! x)

Thank you for the amazing review, hun! <3

  6. I don't think I have heard of this before but it sounds like a good contemporary read. Sarah does sound a little infuriating, but it's good that, despite her mistakes, you still liked her character. Lovely review as always, Celine! :)

  7. I'd never heard of this book until now. You seem to read a lot of books that are unfamiliar to me, Celine (not that I'm complaining though :D). The premise sounds fun however, I have a hunch that the MC might seem somehow annoying to me.
I also agree that there's nothing remarkable about the cover. I kinda stared at it for a while when I got to this page like something was wrong with it until I realized that author's name was missing. :/

  8. Sweet review Celine! I really like the sound of a contemporary book that really portrays teenagers! I really don't like the cover, though i really like the font that was used for forever! I'm glad Sarah is a realistically flawed character and her best friends are good friends!
<3 Awesome review! Will definitely check this book out!

  9. This looks so real and so light at the same time! The cover makes it look like such a nice and fluffy read. I like how it's a black and white cover with the pink font. Glad you likd this one, Celine :D

  10. Joe sounds like a total jerk! Poor Sarah but she needs to get a clue and leave this guy in the dust. Great review Celine. :)

  11. I'm with Rachel, Jo does sound like a jerk, and I understand what happened to Sarah. Sometimes we want another person to be something we want so badly what we stop hearing what they're saying and start hearing what we want to hear instead. The tight groupd of friends reminds me of Saving Francesca a little bit, though, and that's always a good thing.

  12. Hmmm, I'm not thrilled about the cover either. Not to be mean, but it looks a bit unprofessional. Well, besides that, I don't really like the sound of the story. Not my cup of tea. I'm glad that you liked it though, because the fact that she voices the characters good is great. Thanks for the review, but I'm going to pass this one ^^

  14. Hmm, sounds interesting Celine. :) I agree, while the cover is nothing spectacular, it seems that the content inside the book is deep, intricate, and realistic, and more so than the trite cover. :) I'm pleased you liked this one! YA contemporary is one of my favourite genres, so I might end in checking this out. :) Lovely review, sweetheart. (not that I expected any less of you!) <3

  15. While this isn't my normal kind of read, these type of books sometimes surprise me when I pick them up, by how invested I become! And me likey realistic characters! I can totally understand your frustrations with both Sarah and Joe, Joe doesn't sound like he's winning any guy of the year awards any time soon. Awesome review, Celine!
