Summary from Goodreads:
Can true love be forgotten?

As the only Scion who can descend into the Underworld, Helen Hamilton has been given a nearly impossible task. By night she wanders through Hades, trying to stop the endless cycle of revenge that has cursed her family. By day she struggles to overcome the fatigue that is rapidly eroding her sanity. Without Lucas by her side, Helen is not sure she has the strength to go on.

Just as Helen is pushed to her breaking point, a mysterious new Scion comes to her rescue. Funny and brave, Orion shields her from the dangers of the Underworld. But time is running out—a ruthless foe plots against them, and the Furies’ cry for blood is growing louder.

As the ancient Greek world collides with the mortal one, Helen’s sheltered life on Nantucket descends into chaos. But the hardest task of all will be forgetting Lucas Delos.

Josephine Angelini’s compelling saga becomes ever more intricate and spellbinding as an unforgettable love triangle emerges and the eternal cycle of revenge intensifies. Eagerly awaited, this sequel to the internationally bestselling STARCROSSED delivers a gritty, action-packed love story that exceeds expectation.
Cover:
I like how the theme of the cover is red, compared to the yellow theme in Starcrossed's cover. It's also interesting how different the UK covers are compared to the US ones although they're both great in their own ways!

Story:

What happens when your life is dreamless?

Dreamless picks up directly from where Starcrossed ended. Helen is no longer able to love Lucas freely after discovering that they are cousins. But their love is not the only problem. The Furies never stop trying to make the members of different Houses kill each other. Helen finds out that she is the only one who can stop The Furies because she can descend to the Underworld realm. Can Helen succeed and stop the Furies?

I really enjoyed the first book in the series, Starcrossed, and really liked the whole idea of Greek mythology in the book.  Dreamless continued with the unique re-telling of Greek mythology. I loved how different Greek mythology characters were introduced in the novel, how Helen met another mysterious guy who ended up helping her in the underworld realm and her journey in stopping the furies. The book is fast-paced and filled with actions. I love how Josephine Angelini used the concept of dreams such as how Helen can descend to the Underworld through dreams and how her dreamless nights can make her suffer. Although, I was not a big fan of the love triangle in this book. The ending did not left me desperate to get the next book but I still can't wait for the next book in the series!

Characters:
I still thought Helen was amazing. I loved how she progressed from Starcrossed to Dreamless. Although, I did find her conflicted feelings between Orion and Lucas quite frustrating. I do understand how she was attracted to Orion because he was there when she needed him in the underworld and she could not love Lucas freely because they were cousins. Orion was a great addition to the characters although I still preferred Lucas over him. I love the texts he sent to Helen but somehow, I still think Lucas is perfect for Helen no matter what happens. I really enjoyed reading about other characters such as Daphne, Tantalus, Lucas' parents, Hector and I felt incredibly sad for Zach in this book. I really hoped that the love triangle between Helen, Lucas and Orion can be sorted out in the next book!

Overall:
Dreamless is a great sequel to Starcrossed. Angelini's rich and unique re-telling of Greek mythology will bring readers back into the entrancing world of Starcrossed. Despite the fact that I did not quite loved it as much as Starcrossed, I absolutely can't wait for the next book in the series!
4 Forget-Me-Not flowers for Dreamless!
Thank you Pan Macmillan Australia for the review copy!

  2. Wow, nice review! I'm a bit excited for this one, too. I read (although sadly not loved) Starcrossed a while ago, and the greek mythology is really what pulls me in the most. I thought it was great when I read the first one! There's a love triangle? I'm not precisely a fan of them, but I'm intrigued by how can it play out. Nice review, Celine! :)

  4. Yay, so happy this book doesn't let you down, Celine! I thought Starcrossed was a pretty cool book when I read it last year, and I have this sky-high hopes for Dreamless (and Orion)! I totally get why you would want Helen to choose between her two guys LOL -- but at least you still liked Orion despite liking Lucas better :) And texts between characters? SO SWEET! <3

Amazing review, Celine! I can't wait to read more of Josie's mythology! :)

  5. Ahh a messy love triangle... I really hope it is sorted out in book 3 too! I enjoyed the first book so look forward to starting this soon. I'm glad to hear Helen's character makes some progress as she wasn't my favourite in Starcrossed. Anyway, awesome review! :)

  6. Ahhh! A love triangle...why must author's continue to torture us...I want to read this series because I love Greek mythology so I know I would enjoy that part, but the love triangle is a big turn off. I have to admit I am a bit more partial to the U.S. cover.

  7. I haven't read this series yet but wow I love this cover! I'm a sucker for red covers or red accents. I like the premise too it sounds interesting even though it's plagued with a love triangle (I kind of expect them now, though). Wonderful review!!

  9. I have a feeling I will be frustrated with the new cousin dynamic and the addition of a new boy but I am really excited for this one. I honestly do not remember much of the first book in detail so maybe a Stracrossed reread is necessary? Great review!

  10. This has been bugging me ever since I got the book, but I really want to know who are the two people in the uk cover, at first I thought if was Helen and Orion. But the girl has brown hair and Helen has blond and Orion has curly hair but the guy on the cover has straight hair. It might be lucas but I'm not sure as the girl doesn't look like Helen, help me out

    1. I'm assuming that the girl is Helen and Orion, because Helen and Lucas are featured in the UK cover of Starcrossed :)

  13. This is the second of three books and when I finished this book I was so sad to see that a third one was not available yet. Such a great story. Great for people who love romance mixed with demi gods. AMAZING.
