The question I have to answer this week is:
If you could get a sequel for any book, what would it be?
My answer:
Well, well, well, this is a very hard question. I find that most books I read always has a sequel. And most books I read that just ends in a book has a good ending and I'd like to keep it that way (eg. no sequels so the book's story will not be messed up). But of course, there are some books which would be great to have a sequel so that the story can develop more. I can't just say one book, but here are some of them (Might as well remind you that the list consists of YA books!):
Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins = I know that Lola and the Boy Next Door is a companion novel but I need more of Etienne St. Clair scenes!!! I'm happy to see that there are some scenes in Lola that shows Anna and Etienne living happily, but I need more scenes. It's not enough!
Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins = Might as well add this because I really liked Cricket too! He's as swoon-worthy as Etienne!
The Truth about Forever by Sarah Dessen = When I read this book, I really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters and I can connect to them. But, I think I need more scenes of Macy and Wes. The romance was not enough!
+ most Sarah Dessen's book are stand alone YA books. I haven't read all of them of course, but I think some of the great ones should have sequels.
Fateful by Claudia Gray = When I finished this book, I just felt like I wanted to know more about what happened to Alec and Tess. But, the ending of the book pleased me so with or without a sequel is okay for me :)
Forgotten by Cat Patrick = Again, I wanted to know more about what happened to London and Luke. The ending was good, but I felt like a sequel would be great.
But then again, I think the book's above have pretty good endings and I don't mind them being stand alone YA books. Sometimes, books are meant to be only one, not a long never-ending series. Although, it would be great to have another book to satisfy readers!
Well, that's about it. How about your list?
We seem to be of similar mind on this.
ReplyDeleteI've never read any of those books - might be tempted to look them up now...
ReplyDeleteHere's my Booking Through Thursday post.

Oh my goodness, I thought I would be the only one to say The Truth About Forever. I LOVE that book. I would have to agree about Anna and the French Kiss though.

Great choices! Now I have to check out Fateful and Forgotten - thank you for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteI think it's difficult to top a good book with a sequel.
ReplyDeleteIf your satisfied with the ending, you don't need a sequel.

I haven't read any of these books, besides the Sarah Dessen one. I agree that the ending was still really good, even though a sequel would be awesome. :)
