Yeah—it's a shock to her, too. So to distract herself, Kaylee's going to save every girl in school. Because that hot new teacher is really an incubus who feeds on the desire of unsuspecting students. The only girls immune to his lure are Kaylee and Sabine, her boyfriend's needy ex-girlfriend. Now the unlikely allies have to get rid of Mr. Beck…before he discovers they aren't quite human, either.

But Kaylee's borrowed lifeline is nearing its end. And those who care about her will do anything to save her life.

The bad news? Turns out not even death will get you out of high school…

Covering up her own murder was one thing, but faking life is much harder than Kaylee Cavanaugh expected. After weeks spent "recovering," she's back in school, fighting to stay visible to the human world, struggling to fit in with her friends and planning time alone with her new reaper boyfriend.

But to earn her keep in the human world, Kaylee must reclaim stolen souls, and when her first assignment brings her face-to-face with an old foe, she knows the game has changed. Her immortal status won't keep her safe. And this time Kaylee isn't just gambling with her own life….
Cover:
SO GORGEOUS! I love how each cover has different colour theme such as blue, purple, green, pink and the dresses are so pretty! It totally suits the series!

Story:

Soul Screamers. The last thing you hear before you die.

[Spoiler warning]

Oh hello there, my new favourite series! So I've heard a lot of things about the Soul Screamers series and how awesome Rachel Vincent is. I knew I had to read her books. But I had difficulties finding the first novel in the series so I postponed my plan to read the series until I finally bought the omnibus, and loved it. I'm pretty sure I can call myself a huge Rachel Vincent fan now!

This series honestly just keeps on getting better. I don't think I remember reading books about Banshees and Reapers so this series is definitely one of the most interesting paranormal series! In My Soul to Keep, things are getting more serious after the events revolving the hellions and we discover a huge revelation. (Well, it might not be exactly huge but still, it's shocking!) In My Soul to Steal, a new character is introduced and really adds to the story plot. But my favourite books in the series are If I Die and Before I Wake. In If I Die, Kaylee's life completely changes. In Before I Wake, stakes are getting higher too and the book ends in a climax which will lead to the last book in the series, coming out next year. Besides the amazing story plot, I really love Rachel Vincent's writing. It's so easy to connect with and not to mention the romance is awesome!

Characters:
Kaylee Cavanaugh is one awesome heroine. Seriously, I love how Rachel Vincent portrays her. I like how strong-willed she is, how strong she is and well, I might be really a little jealous that she has 2 amazing guys vying for her attention.

Let's talk about the Hudson brothers! In the beginning of the series, I'm head over heels in love with Nash. But then as the story develops, I'm pretty much Team Tod now. Tod is the older brother by the way! He's a Reaper and that's just one of the amazing things about him! I won't spoil anything further since it can ruin the story for those who haven't read it but I might just talk briefly about other characters. Kaylee's dad is cool. Sophie, Kaylee's cousin is annoying but she's getting better, Sabine, Nash's ex-girlfriend is not too bad as long as she stays away from Nash (wow, I haven't realised how greedy I am! I want Tod and now, Nash too?!) and Emma, Kaylee's best friend is wonderful! I love how she knows everything about Kaylee (full disclosure) and she always supports her. She is a true best friend! So yeah, if you haven't noticed, the characters are pretty much all amazing!

Overall:
If you haven't start this series, what are you waiting for? You love paranormal books and want to look for something different? Ones with no vampires and werewolves? Then Soul Screamers is the series for you! Rachel Vincent's amazing writing introduces you to a world of Banshees, Reapers and things beyond your typical paranormal books. I absolutely can't wait for With All My Soul, the last book in the series!
5 Forget-Me-Not flowers for the Soul Screamers series!
Thank you Harlequin Teen Australia for the review copies!

  1. Yayyy! I've been considering picking up this series, so your positive rating of it has me thrilled, Celine! I can't WAIT to start now and meet Kaylee. I'm a little skeptical about the love triangle with the two hot guys (as usual), but if you liked it, I'm sure I will too. Wonderful review, dear!(:
