Embrace the Forbidden

What if there were teens whose lives literally depended on being bad influences?

This is the reality for sons and daughters of fallen angels.

Tenderhearted Southern girl Anna Whitt was born with the sixth sense to see and feel emotions of other people. She’s aware of a struggle within herself, an inexplicable pull toward danger, but Anna, the ultimate good girl, has always had the advantage of her angel side to balance the darkness within. It isn’t until she turns sixteen and meets the alluring Kaidan Rowe that she discovers her terrifying heritage and her willpower is put to the test. He’s the boy your daddy warned you about. If only someone had warned Anna.

Forced to face her destiny, will Anna embrace her halo or her horns?
Cover:
AMAZING! The models in the cover are similar to how I imagined Anna and Kaidan look like! The girl's red dress is so pretty and I love the foggy effect in the cover.

Story:

What is sweet can also be evil...

From the moment I saw the cover, I knew I had to read Sweet Evil. I have always been a big fan of book about angels and knowing that Sweet Evil is about angels convinced me that I need to read this book! And boy oh boy was the book a sweet and evil read at the same time.

Angels are common in YA novels. So is Sweet Evil any different? Oh yes, I can tell you that. The concept of angels  in this book is different and quite unique. A fallen angel woman will always die if she gives birth to a child and fallen angels have different jobs of tempting others to sin. The story plot is great, although it was quite predictable. I love the concept of the difficulty of resisting temptation. The romance was absolutely amazing! It was steamy, and I just can't get enough. The ending was okay and I definitely did not see it coming. It made me feel a little annoyed but I still can't wait for the sequel!

Characters:
Unfortunately, I was not able to connect with Anna. Throughout the book, I was often frustrated with her actions. I liked Anna in the beginning and understood her pull towards being a 'bad' girl instead a 'good' girl. When she met Kaidan Rowe, I still understood her attraction towards him. When Kaidan rejected her, she always kept trying hard to make him like her and I was annoyed with that. Kaidan's rejections were not only once, but several times and Anna still tried to convince Kaidan that they both can have a relationship. She did try to ignore her feelings for Kaidan but it was only once or twice before she decided to try and convince Kaidan again. While persistence is sometimes good, I don't think it's good in Anna's case. Although, I do think Anna is still a great character overall.

Kaidan Rowe, you bloody amazing guy! I never thought in a million years that you have a British accent. That's a total win for me! I love how you are a drummer and even though I was sometimes annoyed with how you tempt Anna and then reject her, I still love you!

I did enjoy reading about the other fallen angels in the book, particularly Anna and Kaidan's father. Patti, Anna's adoptive mother was lovely and was really protective of Anna.

Overall:
Can you resist the temptation to evil? Sweet Evil is a great addition to the world of paranormal with a new and different concept of angels. Even though I didn't quite liked Anna, I loved Kaidan and the story plot was enjoyable. Kaidan is the boy your daddy warned you about, and I'm warning you to be prepared to swoon for him!
4 Forget-Me-Not flowers for Sweet Evil!

  2. I think the cover was based more on the summary than on the story itself. I pictured Anna as skinnier than the girl on the cover, and also the hair!! Well, you've read my review of this and our thoughts are almost the same. Almost. I think Anna's my most disliked character of the year (so far). I also hate, hate, hate how she's so obsessed with Kaidan! *shakes head*

  3. Yes, I agree! Anna frustrated for multiple reasons. It's been a while since I've read the book but it's probably for the same reasons that you expressed. Glad you loved Kaidan though <3 Very curious about where the sequel will take us! Great review :)

  4. Wonderful review Celine. Although I'm not sure I'd like this if Anna is not a very likeable character. Kaiden sounds delicious though!:)

  9. I had a lot of issues with Anna too, so I never really connected with her as well. She was a little too whiny for my liking. I loved the concept of the book too. It was pretty interesting.
    Great review, Celine. :)

  11. Thats too bad that you couldn't connect with Anna but I have heard that Kaidan is the real star in the book and he is certainly one of the reasons I am dying to read it.

I love the cover too :)

    Thanks for the great review!

  12. It's a shame that you couldn't connect with Anna, but I believe that Kaidan stole the show ;) so that will make it up to me. I also like the fact that the use of Angels is original: it seems like Angels and mermaids are the new vampires an werewolves. You don't hear me complaining, since I love them all ^^

A review filled with awesomeness ^^

And he's hot and cold guy? I might be a bit annoyed with that part, but hopefully I'll be able to look past that! ;)

Amazing review, Celine! Angel may be the new vampires in YA, but I'm glad this book stands out! x)

  19. Great review! I loved Sweet Evil and found Anna's innocence a little irritating at first but it actually grew on me. I can't really see her being not innocent. And Kaidan is so sexy! He really did make this book a million times more enjoyable.

  21. CELINEEEEEEEE! Hi :) Fantastic review!! I started reading this a few months ago, but didn't end up finishing it. I wasn't really connecting with Anna either, so it's sad to hear she didn't strike a cord with throughout the rest of the book. I am really interested in learning about the angel mythology though, I LOVE angel books and Wendy's take on them sounds realy unique. Glad you enjoyed this!

  23. I actually liked Kaidan and Anna but everything else felt almost superfluous, I guess because it wasn't all that unique plotwise. Still, I enjoyed the book for all the steamy scenes especially.

  24. Sorry to hear you didn't connect with Anna that much. I picked this one up a couple months ago, read a few pages and then put it down. That's what happens when you try and juggle books.... Glad to hear you still enjoyed Sweet Evil despite Anna and connecting with her. Kaidan has a British accent? Really? YES PLEASE. Hopefully I'll be picking this one up again soon. Great review :)

  25. Thanks to Dr Brave for bringing back my wife, and brought great joy to my family

Hello to every one out here, am here to share the unexpected miracle that happened to me three days ago, My name is Jeffrey Dowling,i live in Texas,Usa.and I`m happily married to a lovely and caring wife, with two kids A very big problem occurred in my family seven months ago, between me and my wife so terrible that she took the case to court for a divorce she said that she never wanted to stay with me again, and that she did not love me anymore So she packed out of my house and made me and my children passed through severe pain. I tried all my possible means to get her back, after much begging, but all to no avail and she confirmed it that she has made her decision, and she never wanted to see me again. So on one evening,as i was coming back from work,i met an old friend of mine who asked of my wife So i explained every thing to her,so she told me that the only way i can get my wife back,is to visit a spell caster, because it has really worked for her too So i never believed in spell, but i had no other choice, than to follow her advice. Then she gave me the email address of the spell caster whom she visited.(bravespellcaster@gmail.com}, So the next morning,i sent a mail to the address she gave to me,and the spell caster assured me that i will get my wife back the next day what an amazing statement!! I never believed,so he spoke with me,and told me everything that i need to do. Then the next morning, So surprisingly, my wife who did not call me for the past seven {7}months,gave me a call to inform me that she was coming back So Amazing!! So that was how she came back that same day, with lots of love and joy,and she apologized for her mistake, and for the pain she caused me and my children. Then from that day,our relationship was now stronger than how it were before,by the help of a spell caster . So, was now stronger than how it were before,by the help of a spell caster . So, i will advice you out there to kindly visit the same website http://bravespellcaster.yolasite.com,if you are in any condition like this,or you have any problem related to “bringing your ex back.
